Privacy

When you send an enquiry or claim a listing, we collect what you give us — your name, email, and the details of your wedding or business — so we can act on it. We use it to respond to you, to pass enquiries to the relevant venue or vendor, and to improve the guide. We keep enquiries in our own planning system, so we can follow up on them.

With an enquiry we also note which page of this site you first arrived on, and the website or campaign link that brought you here, if any, so we learn which pages help couples. Until you send an enquiry this is kept only in your browser tab; we use no cookie for it.

Google Analytics runs only if you allow it in the analytics panel. If you say yes, it records the pages you view and details about your device and browser, and sets two cookies: _ga and one named _ga_ followed by our measurement ID, which Google lists as lasting 2 years. If you say no, or don't answer, nothing is sent to Google. You can change your answer at any time with “Analytics choices” at the bottom of every page; switching it off stops analytics and deletes those cookies.

Some of our replies are drafted with the help of an automated assistant, working from what you sent us and our listings; a person on our team checks each one before it's sent. Where an AI model helps word a reply, what you sent us is processed by our AI provider, Anthropic, only to draft that reply. If you ask us to approach a venue for you, we send it your first name and your wedding details (date, guest count and needs). Your email and phone number go to a venue only when you tell us to.

If you tick “Before each wedding anniversary, send us a few ideas for marking it” on an enquiry, we keep your wedding date and venue once it's confirmed, and email you once a year before your anniversary with a few ideas. We never send them to anyone who didn't tick it; reply “stop” and we'll stop.

If you tick “After our wedding, invite us to share it on Penang Weddings” on an enquiry, we may email you once after your wedding date to ask whether you'd like it featured. We record that you ticked it and when. We never send that email to anyone who didn't tick it, and you can say no or ask us to forget it at any time.

When a photographer or planner shares your wedding with us, they may give us your email. We use it only to email you once, after the feature is published, so you can keep it or take it down. We delete it when you answer, or after 14 days if you don't.

We don't sell your personal information. We store it securely and keep it only as long as needed to help you. If you'd like us to delete your details, email us at hello@penangweddings.com and we will.
